Scrap pieces of red and white construction paper fell aimlessly to the floor as the sound of cutting scissors filled the room.  Lacey paper doilies were passed from hearts of red to hearts of pink, deciding which looked best.  The smell of glue entered the room as it was spread across thin paper hearts and glitter was sprinkled upon.  Satisfied with her work, the young coordinator gave a small smile and began to address the numerous hearts.

"And done."  She announced as she sealed the last envelope with a small heart sticker.

"Finally."  A voice said, drawing her attention to the doorway.  "You and Brock have been busy all day with this Valentine's Day stuff.  I can understand Brock, but I wouldn't have thought you'd be so into Valentine's Day too."  He said before sitting on the bed.  "I mean what's the big deal anyway, it's just a day about giving cards and candy away."

"Speaking of cards, aren't you going to make any?  Valentine's Day is next week you know."

"Already got them."  Ash said before pulling a box of childish valentines from his backpack.  "Here check it out.  This one's for Brock."

Taking the card from his hand, Dawn was met with the picture of a mightyanya wearing a drawn chef's hat, the caption, "You're a 'Mightyanya' good chef" underneath.  Rolling her eyes, she handed the card back to Ash.  'Of course', she thought, 'who else but Ash would think to combine pokemon and valentine cards.'  
"Pretty good, huh?  I thought of that one on my own.  You should see the others."  And with that said, he placed the box of childish valentines upon her lap before she was able to protest.

"Others?"  She questioned, taking a valentine from the box and reading the caption: "Be 'Mime'".  "You didn't think of these by yourself?"

"Not all of them.  Misty helped me think of most of them.  It's kinda of a traditon we have."  He said as he pulled a faded piece of paper from his pocket to show her.  "When we first started traveling together, Misty and I were always fighting.  So as a joke for Valentine's Day, I gave her a card with a tentacruel on it with the caption below: You're 'Tentacruel'."  

"Oh Ash, how awful.  I bet she got really mad at you after that."

"That's the funny thing, it turned out that Misty's favorite pokemon are tentacruel.  So ever since then we exchange we've been exchanging funny valentines."

Nodding her head in understandment, the coordinator scanned the cards before selecting a particular card and smirked.  "So this must be Misty's."  She said holding up a card picturing a dewgong with the caption: "You 'Dewgong' and stole my heart."

With radiating cheeks and grumbling words, Ash grabbed the card from her hand and the box from her lap.  "I've gotta go mail these."  He said all to quickly before shutting the door behind him.

Laughing at his actions, Dawn turned to her own valentines.  'Maybe one day', she thought, she'd have her own funny valentine.
